A STOCKTAKE OF COMMUNITY AND           research@nscss.org.nz

SOCIAL SERVICES ON THE NORTH SHORE

WHAT IS THIS RESEARCH?

Over the past few months a research group led by North Shore Community and Social Services has been quietly working away planning a major project to find out what community and social services are available on the North Shore.   This includes arts groups that may have a mental health component, sports groups that may have a health focus, and purely voluntary groups. We aim to include all social service and community groups that provide services on the North Shore.

AIMS:

The aim of the research is to get a comprehensive picture of the services that are available, the services that you, as service providers believe should be available and the pressures on existing services.

UPDATE:

We have nearly finished stage one of the project, which saw 175 people completing the survey around what services groups provide on the North Shore, what were some of the demographic information about the groups who participated, and most importantly- what were the biggest social issues on the North Shore, and what services were needed to deal with these issues?

We will be holding some focus groups around some of the key themes that have emerged from the first stage. If you are interested in being part of this important dialogue, then please contact us on 486 4820, or email: lesley@nscss.org.nz.

A first report will be published mid march and will be available to anyone who would like a copy.
